Revision3 bans Digg links

Digg is all about sharing. After all, look at the new "shout" feature. That is why I was shocked to see that my digg link from a Revision3 forum was deleted. Their reasoning "no digg links are allowed here, people abuse them to get their story on the front page".

And thats where they are wrong. That is the power of digg. Anyone can post a link for people to go to "digg" their story. But if the story is lame, no one is going to digg it anyway. Only stories worthy to be on the front page make it, because its the users that decide a stories fate.

So who cares if they post a link. My recent submission about Alex Albrecht being on AOTS was posted in the Revision3 Diggnation forums, and I think thats part of the reason it got over 900 diggs. As long as it has to do with the topic, why can't the author include a link?

(Click to view the full message) This is the PM I received from a Revsion3 Moderator. I was threatened to be banned if I posted Digg links.

Let me know what you think in the comments.
